CLUB NEWS

August 2026

As you will read on the Home page of our website, the Club is presently undergoing a period of reorganisation, following the departure of Ian Macaulay who ran the club since 2023, and Sarah Godfrey who updated and managed this website and successfully attracted much needed younger members to the Club.  A small group of members are now working to fill the roles covered by Ian and Sarah but suffice to say, some areas may not be fully covered for a while.

For now at least, this website will exist as a 'shop window' to the Club but may not be updated on a regular basis. You are therefore invited to join our lively Facebook group which has more than 500 members and is updated regularly, often on a daily basis. The group was created by Ian Macaulay in 2020 and has been a huge success, attracting members from the UK, Europe and of course, the USA, which has a thriving Metropolitan scene. If you wish to keep abreast of Club activities in real time, the Facebook group is the place to be. Although having stepped away from most Club duties for personal and family reasons, Ian will continue to manage the Facebook group for the time being and will be pleased to accept new members. Sarah Godfrey created a Club presence on Instagram which may also be of interest to you so again, please take a look. You will find links to both Facebook and Instagram on the Home page of this website.

Running a club can be hard work and requires a sizeable commitment in terms of time, and those giving their time voluntarily need the support and input of other members to make it work. To ensure the Metropolitan Owners Club continues to thrive and survive, it is essential that you support the new leadership team in their efforts to take the Club forward. In particular, existing Club Treasurer Paul Miller will also be taking on the role of Magazine Editor and will need your contributions if he is to continue producing a lively, informative, enjoyable magazine every three months. You will find Paul's details under the 'Contact Us' tab of this website if you wish to provide content for the magazine.

Stephen Blakey is taking on the role of Membership Secretary, another position which demands significant time and administrative ability to perform effectively. Stephen's details appear on the Membership Application form which you will find by clicking the link under the 'Join the Club' tab.

Karen Walker, who most of you will know if you subscribe to our Facebook group, will be assisting with general administration and also on occasions, arranging events on an informal basis.

Please support Paul, Stephen and Karen in their efforts and commitment. I'm sure you will all join us in thanking Ian for his past service to the Club, and for his support during handover to the new team, and also many thanks to Sarah for her support in promoting the Club to a younger audience, creating our presence on Instagram and for her support in modernising and maintaining this website. If anyone wishes to take on the role of Website Coordinator, please let us know.
